(In honor of you, our friends of Fishhook, Lindsay’s’s gift is going to Brookside Initiative.)
This year my husband, Joe, and I started volunteering at Kid’s Church, reaching the children in the Indianapolis Brookside community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We’ve been so blessed to watch the Lord work in the lives of the kids and to be able to use our gifts for Him.
There’s nothing like stepping outside of your comfort zone to really feel what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. Serving at Kid’s Church does that for me. Just a few miles from my neighborhood is another with an overwhelming amount of lost and hurting souls that have little hope and love.
Kid’s Church exists to reach children, youth and their families in the Indianapolis Brookside neighborhood with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, helping them to experience the transforming power of Christ’s love, teaching them how to grow in their faith and equipping them to win others to Him. Saturday Morning Kid’s Church is held at the BEACH (Eastside Nazerene Church – 16th & Gladstone) and children, ages 2 to 18, worship through song, story and Bible teaching in a safe and loving environment.
Children are picked up/dropped off by buses, and served breakfast, snack and lunch. Everything is coordinated and organized by volunteers each week who prepare sack lunches, serve as bus captains, teach and lead worship. Imagine VBS every Saturday morning! My heart beats alongside the little ones and I love volunteering with the children, ages two to five. All they ever want is someone to hold their hand, hug them, play with them, show some attention – just love the little children. May God’s work be blessed and multiplied at Brookside!
